How can we know for sure what is true? How can we bring hope to our culture?

In today’s world, there are so many differing viewpoints that some people have given up hope of ever finding out what is really true. Many may think that truth itself doesn’t even exist. So what should we as Christians believe, and what should we be doing to help?

This self-paced workshop is based on the book The Big Book of Christian Apologetics by Dr. Norman Geisler.

The church throughout the centuries always believed that truth had been placed in their possession. Furthermore, the church believed that the state of the world was their responsibility.

So what has happened?

The church took a big step back from engaging in the culture in the early part of the 1900's. In trying to protect themselves from secular influences to preserve the truth in their own communities, they neglected their responsibility to speak into the culture. This allowed other voices to rise up with their own version of what is right and good. Since the church was so quiet, those voices gradually gained authority in the culture.

So what do we do now?

We all need to make knowing God’s truth a priority. You may have heard your share of critics of the Bible, God and Christianity. You may have felt guilt about any doubts these critics may have inspired in your mind. You may have begun to believe these doubts. But have no fear!

God tells us to ask questions and to reason through the logical framework on which our faith is built. As Dr. Norman Geisler said, "If you long to know the mind of God, you must learn to use your own. That's apologetics!"

This workshop will help you think through some of the following questions:

  • If God is good, then why is there Evil in the world?
  • How can we really say that something is right for everyone?
  • Do we have any good reasons to believe in a Creator rather than in Evolution?
  • Since Jesus lived so long ago, isn’t it difficult to know what he really said or did?

God asks us to talk to people about Him. But wouldn’t it be so much easier if we felt more confident in our faith ourselves? We shouldn’t be surprised that people are skeptical, or that we have doubts ourselves, if none of us have heard any good answers for our doubts!

We all have a part to play in conveying the truth to those in our circle of influence. We all have a part to play in changing the culture. This workshop will help you begin to build a stronger foundation for understanding and sharing your faith!

Co-Founder, NGIM

Dr. Norman Geisler

The late Dr. Norman Geisler is known as the premiere apologist of the 20th century. He developed a three-tiered model that integrates apologetics, philosophy, and theology, and over a more than 60-year career in ministry he mentored and discipled many of today's top Christian leaders.

Dr. Norman Geisler is the author of The 12 Points That Prove Christianity Is True and over a hundred other books that have impacted the foundations of modern Christianity. In practical terms, Dr. Geisler was the first to see the value of using a classic two-step apologetic approach, as opposed to a purely evidentiary approach, to witness to a postmodern generation.

As a prominent member of the International Council on Biblical Inerrancy, his influence was crucial in building a foundation on which the church stood through the writing of the Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy. He founded the International Society of Christian Apologetics and co-founded two seminaries: Southern Evangelical Seminary and Veritas Evangelical Seminary, now called Veritas International University. In 2015, Dr. Norman Geisler and his son David co-founded Norm Geisler International Ministries, and in 2018 they launched the ministry's discipleship arm, the Norm Geisler Institute.

Dr. Norman Geisler earned a B.A. in Philosophy from Wheaton College, a Master of Theology from Wheaton Graduate School, a Th.B. from William Tyndale College and a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Loyola University.
